After receiving a nice stipend from Rajamäen yhteiskoulun stipendirahasto I've suddenly started to feel like an artist. Although the stipend had nothing to do with art. It was given to anyone who asked for it and was studying in an university. But for some reason the stipend made me feel like "now I can do anything I ever wanted 'cos I got the money for it". But ofcourse the stipend isn't really so big that I could do whatever I wanted.

It's a feeling, it's irrational.

Another thing boosting my feeling of being an artist rather than instructor is the upcoming art exhibition I'lle be trying to attend to with my works. It's an art exhibition for the young living in Häme-region. I'm really exited about it and yesterday started to paint with oilpaints (after so many years) to make a painting for the exhibition.

Ofcourse there's the chance that my works suck and none of them get to the exhibition and I pay for the jurying for nothing.

But 'cos I feel like an artist I'm ready to take a chance.

And as an icebreaker: I bought 2 black&white striped shirts from the fleemarket. It confirms that this "I am artist" things is just a phase.

The second period started. Felted baby Cthulhu and Cthulhu painting are waiting for teachers' "judgement". I'm not expecting good numbers but I like them myself. I did some modification on the felted Cthulhu, you'll see it after I get it back.

At this period we're having lessons in "Creative crafts" and "Fabric painting". Assignment on tha fabric painting leaves no room for Mythos, but luckyly I can put my "Cthulhu-energy" to Creative crafts. Yes, I'm making a sort of a doll of King in Yellow. you can see the style in my painting Hastur, Hastur.... I've made the body and I'll be doing some painting to it next week and ofcourse the robe. I'm so excited about it I hope I don't screw it up

Fabric painting is mostly done by experimenting but there's this main assignment that has to have something to do with snowflakes. So I'll take this lovely poem I got from Mikko years ago and design somekinda snowflake and make a painting of it. Show some femine side for a change.

I did some cleaning at my deviations so if something's missing it's because I took it off.

Syksyn opinnot alkoivat syyskuussa ja nyt kun on selvinnyt naimisiin menosta ja häämatkasta voi vähän miettiä tulevaa opiskeluvuotta. Ensimmäisen periodin kaksi "käta" kurssia ovat Kuvallinen ilmaisu & plastinen sommittelu ja Huovutus 1. Molemmissa on melko vapaat aiheet, kunhan vain käyttää ennalta määrättyjä tekniikoita.

Kuvallisen tehtävä 1: Valitse kuva ja jatka sitä haluamallasi tavalla. Koko a3. Mitä Johanna tekee? Ottaa kuvan planeetasta, nappaa mustan a3:n ja alkaa maalata Elder signiä ja kirjan sivuilta kurkistavaa Cthulhun silmää. Kuvallisen tehtävä 2: suunnittele ja toteuta savesta muotti kipsi-reliefille. Mitä Johanna harkitsee - Elder signia, toteaa menevän jo överiksi ja päättääkin tehdä kissan pään. Sen voi sitten antaa lahjaksi äipälle. Huovutuksen tehtävä 2: Huovuta pieni 3-uloitteinen eläin tai olio kaavatekniikkaa hyödyntäen. Mitä Johanna tekee? Värjää villansa vihreäksi ja rupeaa kasamaan pientä vauva-Cthulhua. Huovutuksen tehtävä 4: vapaa tehtävä, käytä vähintään 2:ta aiemmin opittua tekniikkaa. Mitä Johanna tekee? Haaveilee tasotyöstä Hasturista, jossa toinen käsi tulee ulos tasosta.

Syksyn teema on siis H.P.Lovecraftin Call of Cthulhun maailma. Mitä se kertoo minusta? Toisaalta pieni vauva-Cthulhuni on saanut paljon "söööö" huudahduksia osakseen jopa omassa, hirviöistä piittaamattomassa ryhmässäni.

Aloitin nyt sitten tämän amk-opiskelun. Eli ohjaustoiminnan artenomiksi pitäisi valmistua muutamassa vuodessa...
Kädentaidoista aloimme ensiksi opiskella keramiikkaa ja se on valtavan mukavaa puuhaa Mun työt perinteiseen tapaan eroaa joukosta erilaisen muotokielen takia. Sitä välillä harmittaa, kun toiset vääntää hienoja vaaseja, jotka näyttää siltä, kuin niitä voisi myydä jossain. No, mun Cthulhu-ruukku on ihan söö- eikä tule heti vastaan toista Luonnonmuodoista tein nikaman. Muut teki jotain kasvien osia. Ihastuin nikamaan ikihyvin, sitä tullaan varmasti näkemään täällä enemmänkin...
Lokakuun puolessavälissä alkaa valokuvauskurssi ja punonta. Sitten tarjolla taas erilaista vääntämistä.

Niin, onhan meillä värin ja muodon kurssi, mutta sen työt on enemmän harjoituksia kuin itsenäisiä teoksia, joten niitä ei tulla täällä varmaan näkemään.

I haven't really done anythig creative lately. My head got all messed up 'cos I got in HAMK University of applied sciences. In 4 years I'll become sort of an art's teacher. Studies start in september so after that I think this place will be filled up with my works. But before I have to move to Hämeenlinna and get everything in order here in Hyvinkää... busy busy... lucky I got this vacation...
